Starting today, the skies over Atlanta GA will paint a grey picture with a 40% chance of precipitation and perhaps thunderstorms post-lunchtime, bringing temperatures up to a comfortable 83 degrees. "Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon," according to the forecast on weather.gov. This evening, the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms drops slightly before dwindling down farther past 2am.

The prediction for Saturday isn't much drier, with a damp morning expected to lead into a more turbulent afternoon. By the time the clock strikes 2 pm, residents are warned of showers and the potential clap of a thunderstorm. The chance of precipitation kicking up a notch to 60% and new rainfall could measure in at a soaking quarter to half an inch.

Come Sunday Night, and the pattern of precipitation persists, as showers and possibly a thunderstorm pepper the early evening until 8 pm, after when the chances of storms continue irregularly throughout the night. But, even as meteorologists anticipate unsettled weather, the mercury is set to rise early next week, forecasting a high of 87 degrees by Tuesday under largely sunny skies.

The remainder of the week carries a continued threat of rain, with Wednesday evening seeing a minor 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. However, locals should brace for a more pronounced likelihood on Thursday, predicting a 30 percent chance of rain. Despite the threat of wet weather, temperatures will hover in the warm high 80s.
