A fiery explosion rocked a neighborhood in Derry, New Hampshire this past Sunday, leaving one man severely injured. At approximately 7:40 p.m., firefighters dashed to the scene at Chases Grove Road after reports of an explosion and subsequent blaze, according to NBC Boston. Officials said that nearly half of the house was found ablaze when emergency responders reached the scene.

The victim, a man whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was rescued from his 784 sq.ft. flaming abode by quick-acting bystanders before the arrival of the fire department. As per the release obtained by NBC Boston, he was transported to a local hospital with injuries that fire officials described as "potentially life-threatening."

"Due to the seriousness of injuries and the complexity of the scene, the NH State Fire Marshal's Office was consulted and responded to assist Derry Fire Investigators with determining the cause and origin of the fire," Battalion Chief Ryan Bump stated, as reported by NBC Boston. The concerted efforts of firefighters from Derry and 11 other communities brought the aggressive fire under control by 8:35 p.m., a near-hour-long battle against the flames.

Assisting the Derry firefighters were crews from a roster of neighboring towns including Salem, Londonderry, Hampstead, and several others, as noted in a release detailed by the Union Leader. The Derry police and the Derry Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) were also dispatched to the scene, adding to the multi-agency response. Despite their swift and determined intervention, the cause of the fire remains a matter for investigation.
