Four Rescued by Sonoma Sheriff's Helicopter After Boat Capsizes in Tomales BaySource: Sonoma County Sheriff

Four people found themselves in precarious waters this weekend after their boat capsized in Tomales Bay, Marin County. Fortunately, their ordeal ended in rescue, thanks to quick actions from local first responders.

At approximately 2:35 p.m. on Sunday, officials received a distress call about an overturned boat. Within minutes, Sonoma County Sheriff's Office's Henry-1 helicopter, which had just showcased a water rescue demo at the Bodega Bay Fisherman's Festival, was redirected to the crisis. The rescue team located the boat, and found two individuals in the water holding onto the keel and two more perched atop the vessel's belly, according to a report by Patch.

In a swift and coordinated effort, "Henry-1 landed nearby and configured for a long line rescue," cited from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. The rescue personnel, comprised of a Tactical Flight Officer (TFO) and a Sheriff’s Paramedic, strategically retrieved the victims.

The rescue operation involved the TFO airlifting the stranded boaters individually while the paramedic attended to the remaining victims, ensuring their safety until they could be evacuated. All individuals were transported to a nearby residence and, subsequently, to a waiting ambulance, where they received medical attention, as stated by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.
