Tragedy struck Minneapolis early Sunday morning when a shooting on Cedar Ave South left one man dead and another injured, as the city grapples with yet another instance of gun violence. Officers arrived on the scene around 12:40 a.m. upon receiving reports of the shooting that unfolded in a parking lot behind 901 Cedar Ave South, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

The first victim, a man believed to be in his 40s, was quickly tended to by officers who rendered immediate medical care before he was rushed to Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC) with what was described as potentially life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital, as per the Minneapolis Police Department. The second victim managed to quickly make his way to HCMC in a passenger vehicle, suffering from what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The area was promptly secured by the authorities as investigators began to canvass the neighborhood for information. As reported by the Minneapolis Police Department, the shots were fired across 9th St. toward a group of individuals congregated in the parking lot, which prompted an exchange of gunfire. Forensic scientists have since processed the crime scene in hopes of collecting valuable evidence that may shed light on the incident and help to quickly bring the perpetrator to justice.

The investigation is ongoing, with Minneapolis Police urging anyone with information to step forward and assist in apprehending those responsible for the violence.
