Houston Man Arrested for Drug Possession After Routine Traffic Stop EscalatesSource: Facebook/Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4

A routine traffic halt on a Houston road spiraled into a drug bust as cops slapped the cuffs on a man with a stash of party drugs, authorities said.

Deputies from Harris County Constable Mark Herman's Office stopped a vehicle in the 7000 block of Foxfield Lane on April 30, where they proceeded to detain 33-year-old Christopher Perez, a man discovered to quickly be sitting on open traffic warrants. Digging deeper, the officers unearthed a quantity of Ecstasy and Xanax, leading them to arrest Perez on drug possession charges.

A statement on Constable Mark Herman's Official Facebook Page noted, "Christoper Perez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrants and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $1,500.00 out of the 486th District Court."

Ecstasy and Xanax, which are both considered controlled substances, can land possessors in hot water under Texas law. Perez is now facing just such heat with the drug charges potentially significantly escalating his legal troubles beyond the traffic warrants he was initially stopped for.

With bond set, Perez awaits his date in court to confront the allegations laid out by the Constable's Office.
