Marietta Gears Up for Public Meeting on New East Dixie Avenue Bike Path ProjectSource: City of Marietta

Marietta residents are prepping for a public pow-wow to discuss plans for a new bike path that could change the way they scoot around town. According to the City of Marietta announcement, a public meeting will take place on May 14 to talk over a proposed multi-use trail project along East Dixie Avenue, set to tie into the Mountain to River trail system.

The gathering, put on by the city in the Transportation Conference Room at 268 Lawrence Street NE, will kick off discussions on the grant application for the proposed trail, which is up for funding by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Recreational Trails Program. Set to begin at 6 PM, the officials are expected to lay down the specifics of the trail project, while casting a net for community feedback. Constructed within the existing public right-of-way, the proposed 8-foot-wide multi-use trail, complete with a 2-foot grass strip, will stretch from Atlanta Street all the way to Manget Street.

In a release found on the City of Marietta official website, Courtney Verdier, Marietta's Planning and Development Specialist, stated, "The purpose of this meeting is to brief the community on the project and grant application, as well as to provide an opportunity to receive feedback." This trail plans to seamlessly connect to the Manget Street section, paving the way for those seeking to traverse from east to west along the Rottenwood Creek Trail.

Construction of the trail is not set to begin until 2025, giving locals ample time to weigh in. Eager to get involved or simply have questions?
