Nashville Man with Prior Bank Robbery Convictions Indicted for New Heist While on Supervised ReleaseSource: Google Street View

Jeremy Stacey Godwin, 44, was hit with a fresh indictment for bank robbery, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Tennessee reported yesterday. Godwin is accused of hitting a Truist Bank on April 9, seemingly undeterred by his past stints in federal prison for similar heists.

Godwin allegedly waltzed into the Nolensville Pike bank earlier this month and threatened to pull a firearm on the teller, who handed over about $2,400 before the robber fled on foot — but not before his face was splashed across local media reports, leading to his arrest after a tipster called the cops, according to an indictment filed recently.

The indictment details Godwin's previous convictions: one for a 2016 bank robbery in Nashville and another for a 2017 bank heist in Indianapolis. He was out on supervised release at the time of the latest alleged crime, again throwing his freedom into jeopardy.

If the jury convicts Godwin, he could be looking at another 20 years behind bars, extending his relationship with the federal penitentiary system — the FBI and Metro Nashville Police Department investigated with First Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas J. Jaworski leading the prosecution, the indictment further revealed.
