In a disturbing encounter, a 14-year-old girl was approached by a man with intentions that prompted immediate police intervention in Redwood City. According to information released by the Redwood City Police Department, the girl was walking home from school on April 29 when a male in a white car asked her age, solicited her cell phone number, and proceeded to proposition her with the question, "can I hit on you?"

The incident took place around 1:45 PM on the 1200 block of Clinton Street. Despite the suspect's efforts to lure her closer to his vehicle, the young girl maintained her distance and then swiftly went home to report the man's actions, which authorities described as alarming and predatory. Utilizing the Flock camera system, detectives quickly began to thoroughly sift through cars in the vicinity that matched the suspect's vehicle description, leading to a breakthrough.

In a technological triumph, the Flock system, a network of license plate-recognition cameras, captured footage of a similar vehicle in the area at the time of the incident. This pivotal piece of evidence allowed detectives to track down the vehicle owner, identified as 46-year-old Newark resident Neil Porras Prado. With the help of the juvenile victim, the detectives confirmed that Prado was indeed the suspect they had been searching for.

As of May 2, Neil Porras Prado was arrested swiftly by detectives, and during the execution of an arrest warrant, electronic items were seized from his possession. Facing serious legal repercussions, Prado was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges of contacting a minor with the intent to have sex and annoying or molesting a victim under 18 years of age, according to the San Mateo County Jail.
