A young Minnesota man met with tragedy on an ATV trail this past Wednesday. John Poppen, 21-year-old resident of Royalton, was fatally injured in an accident that occurred on the Soo Line Trail, the Morrison County Sheriff's Office reported. Authorities were alerted to the situation at approximately 6:48 pm on May 1.

The report indicated that Poppen was driving his ATV along the westbound track of the trail, one mile west of Highway 10 in Bellevue Township, when he lost control of the vehicle. It veered off the path and crashed into a tree, which resulted in fatal injuries. Upon the arrival of emergency services, life-saving measures were carried out, but Poppen was pronounced dead at the scene.
