San Francisco Police Arrest Four Suspects in Operation Against Auto BurglariesSource: San Francisco Police Department

The San Francisco Police Department has taken four suspects into custody following a series of auto burglaries, marking significant progress in an ongoing citywide operation targeting such crimes. According to a press release from the SFPD, officers from the Northern Station were alerted to an auto burglary at the intersection of Steiner and Grove Streets near Alamo Square on May 1.

The accused, identified as Andrew Maravilla-Lopez, 21; Masiah West-Ayele, 21; Michael Gebremeskel, 23; and Omarion Holman, 21, were apprehended after a pursuit by police officers during the operation. The officers recognized the vehicle tied to a previous robbery on April 19. After a failed attempt to pull over, the car chase ended with three suspects fleeing the vehicle, but they were soon captured. The driver led police on a further pursuit before being caught at Steuart Street and Steuart Lane.

Investigators found a loaded firearm and several thousand dollars worth of stolen items in the suspect vehicle. The cache included camera equipment from the earlier Alamo Square burglary and other items linked to a theft that occurred last month on Lyon Street. The prompt actions of the SFPD also allowed for the recovery of this stolen property and its return to the rightful owners.

Gebremeskel, Maravilla-Lopez, West-Ayele, and Holman have been charged with a multitude of offenses, including burglary, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools, among others. Specifically, Holman faced additional charges for evading police and driving with wanton disregard for safety. Even as these suspects deal with the legal repercussions of their alleged crimes, the San Francisco Police emphasize that the investigation is still open. The public is urged to come forward with any information they may have regarding these incidents.

While arrests have been made, the SFPD encourages anyone with further insights to reach out via their Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or to send an anonymous text to TIP411, starting the message with SFPD. The Police Department remains committed to addressing the surge in property crimes and ensuring the safety and security of the local community.
