Summer Heats Up in Long Beach with Over 700 Recreational Classes for All AgesSource: City of Long Beach

The City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation, and Marine (PRM) Department is rolling out various summer activities for all ages. Registration kicks off Monday, May 6 for a lineup that includes everything from preschool soccer camps to ceramics classes for the young at heart. Starting in June, locals can dive into more than 700 different recreational adventures set to keep the city buzzing through the heat of August.

Options abound with preschool soccer camps for the little ones just shy of their fourth birthday to the age of six. Other youthful endeavors include cake design classes, and for the pint-sized hoopers, D-Up Tiny Ballers Basketball. According to the official release, superheroes in training can also get their fix with Avengers and Justice League Animation classes, or for those preferring bricks and creativity, the Lego Engineering Design Challenge won't disappoint.

The fun doesn't stop for the adults, though. Those over 16 can get their hands dirty in Ceramics Workshop, refine their line work in Drawing Fundamentals, or whisk partners away in the passionate Argentine Tango. Meanwhile, those 50 and over have a gamut of options too. From working the grey matter in Functional Movement, Balance, and Brains to feeling the rhythm in Zumba Gold, PRM is making certain nobody's left on the bench this summer.

Long Beach residents can hop online at lbparks.org starting May 6. They could also dial up 562.570.3111, or strut down to the Registration Reservations Office, but let's be real, registering online is likely the swift move. Classes run the gamut from June through August, offering pockets of joy and sweat throughout the season. For those wanting a sneak peek at the full range of activities, try nabbing the latest Recreation Connection catalog, which is up for grabs at park community centers and local library branches from May 3.
