New in the Neighborhood: Aline's Closet
About a month ago, Brazilian designer and model Maria de Fatima Callou quietly closed her Lower Haight shop, Callou Designs, after more than five years in the neighborhood. Now, a new store has taken over the space on the corner of Waller and Pierce.

Aline's Closet is the storefront of Aline Dazogbo, a Benin-born designer who studied fashion in Paris and lived in Brazil before moving to San Francisco in 2009. Her designs were previously sold in Callou's shop, so not surprisingly, the new store has a similar vibe to Callou's, although it's a little more vintage/crafty/repurposed, and a little less Burning Man. Dazogbo has filled the shop with handmade clothes, jewelry, artwork, accessories and oddities that cater to, as her website describes it, "a citizen of the world who does not feel the need to conform to trends, since she's making" them. (Sorry fellas, Aline's Closet is currently geared toward women only -- though that may change in the future). Aline's Closet is open Tuesday thru Sunday from 12-7pm, and stays open till 9pm on Thursdays and Sundays. So, swing by and check it out. Oh and hey, Yelpers -- ever wanted to be the first to review something? Here's your chance.
