A large colony of feral cats is apparently hounding (!) one block of the Lower Haight, causing some neighbors to take action.

According to a thread on the lowerhaight.org google group, folks on the block bounded by Haight, Fillmore, Page and Webster have been grappling with the unwelcome kitties in their backyard area for months. They've been trapping, spaying/neutering, and releasing the animals (the healthy ones are put up for adoption), but it seems the colony is still going strong. If you're a neighbor on this block, find out how to get a free trap from The SF SPCA to help stop the colony from growing. You can also help neighbors by transporting trapped cats to the SPCA to be spayed and neutered. To get all this furry action -- not to mention other neighborhood news and discussion -- delivered right to your inbox, why not join lowerhaight.org's google group? It's a great neighborhood resource, and it's free. Kinda like haighteration, only more democratic. And less snarky.
