Well, this is getting boring. Some time Friday night or early Saturday morning, the Lower Haight mural at Haight and Laguna was defaced yet again. Only this time, rather than "tagging" the mural, the vandal(s) decided to splash it with blue and yellow paint.

Several readers notified us that the Jeremy Fish bunny statue (pictured above) was drenched with a coat of blue paint, and that many other sections of the mural were affected as well. We've decided not to post photos, but suffice it to say, the splattering was significant. A crew of volunteers from the community, rallied by Thea Selby of the Lower Haight Merchants and Neighbors Association, sprang into action Saturday afternoon and removed some of the latex paint, but didn't quite finish the job. If you're interested in helping to clean up the mural, just show up with a bucket of warm water and some sort of brush, and start scrubbin'. A couple of readers have suggested that this might be the work of an artist whose "talent" is splattering popular street art with buckets of paint. Would that make it any better? We're probably not qualified to say. But, something to think about as you scrub those bunnies back to their healthy pinkish hue.
