Create a Great Weekend: 2/18 Edition
Presidents' Day Weekend is upon us and we can't think of a better way to spend it than by hanging out in Hayes Valley. Whether you're grabbing lunch at a restaurant along Market, checking out art on Hayes, or giving your pet the freedom to run around Koshland Park, we hope you create a great weekend with all the fun things going on.

HAYES VALLEY STAY-CATION Refinery 29 informs us that Straw is hosting a contest that rewards people for playing with their food. Yes. You read that correctly. The most creative plate of food wins "a free dinner at Straw, ice cream at neighboring gelato parlor Smitten, tickets to a Rickshaw Stop show, and — no joke! — a one night stay at the Hayes Valley Inn, with complimentary java at Blue Bottle Coffee in the morning." The contest ends Feb 28 so make sure to play with your peas and carrots soon. (203 Octavia) DHARMA TALK AT SAN FRANCISCO ZEN CENTER According to the San Francisco Zen Center's website, "teachers who have been Shuso (Head Student) or have been given Dharma Transmission provide students with Buddha's teachings and how those teachings can become part of one's daily life." Take this opportunity to learn from Furyu Nancy Schroeder on Sunday @ 10am. (300 Page) AZALEA CELEBRATES 10 YEARS Stop by Azalea Boutique to help them celebrate their diamond anniversary and check out their recently redesigned space. (411 Hayes) AN INTRODUCTION TO URBAN PERMACULTURE The Hayes Valley Farm is hosting a class to teach "how to design productive urban spaces that are in harmony with the natural world," according to their website. This will be a foundation for other classes to come, so if you've been wanting to get involved with the Hayes Valley Farm or are interested in taking other classes in the future, makes sure you join this one on Sunday from 12-5pm.
