Cuco's to Close Within 30 DaysBurrito Wisdom
Mexican/Salvadoran restaurant Cuco's has been given 30 days to leave its location at 488 Haight Street after more than two decades in the neighborhood.

This morning, Cuco's announced the sad news on our Facebook page, corroborating news we had heard last night from a tipster. Also, yesterday a Craigslist post seemed to confirm the news, advertising the space at 488 Haight for $3800/month. The post reads:
"750 sf - presently a Mexican Restaurant. Please do not disturb present tennis's [sic] business in your 'viewing'."
Cuco's has been owned by the Campos family for more than 20 years, with matriarch Carmen Campos leading the way and her four children a regular presence in the restaurant. Their plantain burrito was named best vegetarian burrito in the city by Burritophile in 2005, a title which was confirmed by MissionMission just this past August. We've reached out to Carmen for more information, and will update accordingly.
