Fat Tuesday Fun: Parade and Celebrationsflickr/DoctorWho
What do the French Quarter and Hayes Valley have in common? We both have (an) Absinthe, we both are close to a U.S. Mint, we both offer a plethora of French pastries, and we both know how to throw a party for Mardi Gras. Put on your purple, green & gold and check out some of the events going on tonight.

MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION & PARADE Beginning at Place Pigalle (520 Hayes) and making its way down Octavia, we get to experience a free Mardi Gras parade hosted by KALX, BISS LIST and Parish Entertainment. The parade begins at 5pm and ends at Brick and Mortar Music Hall (1710 Mission) where Jazz Mafia and Monophonics will be performing, according to the venue's website. BOXING ROOM: MARDI GRAS BASH If you're in the mood for cajun and creole cooking, check out Boxing Room (399 Grove) for authentic cuisine from executive chef Justin Simoneaux, a native of southern Louisiana. Urbandaddy informs us we can "expect specials on Gulf oysters, Abita’s Mardi Gras Bock on tap, duck/sausage jambalaya and a live New Orleans–style jazz band." If you know of anything else going on, please let us know!
