New Divisadero Bi-Rite Delayed Until October

If you've been eagerly awaiting the new Bi-Rite market and scoop shop that's heading to 550 Divisadero, you're going to have to wait a few months longer.

The market is now targeting an October opening for its second location (the first being at 18th and Guerrero, of course), though we are told by a rep for the company that "nothing's set in stone," so the date could slip further. No explanation for the delay was available. This is not the first time the market's opening has been pushed back. It was nearly two years ago, in June of 2010, that we first heard plans for the new Divisadero location. At that time, there was no mention of when the store might open. It wasn't until January of 2011 that we learned of a targeted opening timeframe: "Septemberish." Then in June of 2011, that September 2011 timeframe slipped to January 2012, with the company telling us that the build-out was taking longer than expected. Then in December of 2011, we heard that the opening was being pushed to May/June 2012, with no reason cited at the time. And so here we are, now looking at October 2012. Sigh. We'll keep an eye on it.
