After much anticipation, the Santa Clara Natural Organic Market at 798 Haight Street opened its doors yesterday.

The store carries all-natural items, ranging from organic packaged foods to cleaning products to an assortment of fresh produce. There's even a pretty extensive pet section. As the month plays out and the store fills in, owner "Ameen" Swalim plans to install an area for bulk bins, coffee, and fresh flowers for purchase. People checking out the store yesterday seemed to be excited about having a new grocery option in the neighborhood. One shopper could be overheard exclaiming, "This is great, this is everything I want!" We did follow up with Ameen regarding the continual graffiti issue on the Scott side of the building. It seems he has been having some difficulty convincing the landlord that a beautiful mural would actually help his business (and the neighborhood). But he's trying.
