Art Park Made Its Debut in Hayes Valley Last Nightwall along hayes & kebab
Just when you thought the Hayes Valley Art Coalition earned its keep for 2012 by installing Future's Past, they one-upped themselves again.

The Hayes Valley Art Coalition (HVAC) sponsored an Art Walk Dedication & Pot Luck last night to celebrate the (re)opening of the art park at Hayes and Laguna. A dedication that's been two years in the works, this lot next to Hayes & Kebab will have multiple purposes. As a member of HVAC (and owner of Zonal Home Interiors), Russell Pritchard explained that "this corner will have three uses: outdoor seating for Hayes & Kebab, an art park, and a general public area."

We also spoke to Madeline Behrens-Brigham, another member of the HVAC, who gave us a little history of the project. "The HVAC sponsored this to be part of an art park two years ago but the building got sold. Luckily, the new owners let us keep our works on the walls." Her piece was the most recent addition to the art park and can be seen in the picture below (on the left). A few other artists have contributed their works, such as Christine Heath and John Baden.
