All right: the time is now. Outside Lands 2012 is right around the corner, and we can't wait to tell you about the shows we're waiting for.

These guys are all going to be playing on Friday. A couple of them conflict, but you can decide for yourself what's most important. First is Washed Out, whose first LP, Within and Without, landed last year. (Their Life of Leisure EP is also really worth checking out.) We're not sure what they're going to be like live, but their dreamy, space-surfy sound is full of the kind of dense, multilayer texture that makes ideal headphone listening. We also named their song "Soft" our favorite stoned sex song of the year. Check out them and "Soft" a little bit here: Then there's YACHT, which, what can we say. Amazing. High-octane, high-voltage performers with a clean, loud, B-52s-infused electro-punk twist. The newest video on their web site looks promising, too, with a detour into Francophone clubbiness and sass. They're class A performers with infectious energy and they don't take any prisoners. These are a definite must for us. Tennis is our third and final favorite preview pick for Friday's lineup. If you didn't get a chance to hear their cover of Broadcast's "Tears in the Typing Pool," do yourself a favor. Now: They just released their second LP, Young and Old, and they've got a solid, sunshiney, satin-edged indiepop thing going on. Again, can't wait to see what they do in front of a crowd.
