Waller Street Mansion Hits the Rental Market, Hard
Want to live in the pink white mansion at Pierce and Waller? Are you sitting down?

A listing for 593 Waller, one of the three units located within the 1900-era Victorian, has hit the rental market. It looks pretty nice -- but is it really $9,000 a month nice? Because that's how much it costs. The listing describes the 3BR, 3BA apartment thusly:
"This amazing 3 unit Victorian house has been renovated in designer style with the highest of ammenities. This unit has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, an office, french doors that exit onto an exterior deck and the bonus is a leased parking spot! All this set in an incredibly beautiful location in San Francsico. This gorgeous unit has been renovated with great attention to detail, which is notable when touring through this gem. Located just down the street is a neighbor park with amazing surroundings."
Out of curiosity, we searched Craigslist for any other 3-bedroom rentals in the Lower Haight that cost $9,000 or more. We couldn't find any. In fact, we searched fifteen nearby neighborhoods, and could only find two. One is a fully furnished tri-level in Corona Heights, and the other is a 9-room house in the Upper Haight. So, long story short: this formerly very creepy house, which has been under renovation for a year and a half, is now nicer and more expensive than we (and maybe you, and almost everyone we know) can afford. Further proof that renting around here is officially ridiculous.
