Welcome, welcome. Today is Day 1 for Black Scale of the Upper Haight.

They were pretty serious about us not taking pictures, so if you're really curious, we guess you'll have to see for yourself. Meanwhile, here's a picture (above) of the sign they don't have up yet. Black Scale is an SF-born urban clothing company currently located in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. The Haight Street shop is their second in the city (the other is at 55 Grant), and is moving into the place so lately occupied by Stussy, at 1409 Haight. Stop in, check it out, see what it's like. We're interested to see if they'll be giving RVCA a run for their money. In other news this weekend, an estimated 3,000,000 (!) people are expected to be in the city for some combination of Hardly Strictly, Fleet Week, the America's Cup challenger races, and Burning Man decompression. We recommend either locking yourself indoors with a few cases of beer or else braving the beautiful world with your festival lenses: either way, guaranteed circus.
