Friday Odds & Ends 11/9

How about that rain yesterday? We actually saw one person running down Haight Street while screaming I NEED AN UMBRELLA! I NEED AN UMBRELLA! over and over again. It was, briefly, pandemonium. Did you get stuck out in it? We hope not.

Anyway, it's Friday! Here's some stuff that's happening.

It looks like London Breed is our new Supervisor. She mostly picked up second and third choice ranks.

They've identified the victim of the post-Giants melee, Sean Moffitt, who was struck on the head near Haight & Stanyan and died the next day. The situation is still murky: He told his roommates he was surrounded and beaten, but the police spokesman thinks it may have been an accident. Police are still looking for first-person accounts.

In lighter news, the Bookstore is having a NaNoWriMo burlesque show tonight. $10, beer & wine, 90-minutes of raucous entertainment, 8PM.

Be on facebook at 12 noon for a "special announcement" from Amoeba.

The Panhandle Park Stewards will be having their monthly cleanup on Saturday (tomorrow) morning at 9a.m. Meet at the playground. Just bring your fine self, they'll supply the tools. (Also, Prop B passed by a wide margin. Yay!)

And that's all she wrote, kids! Have a great weekend.
