New Details Emerge in Grove Street Market Shooting

A few new details have emerged about Saturday night's shooting at Grove and Octavia which sent one man to the hospital.

ABC News reports that the 52-year-old victim and a younger acquaintance were inside the store at the time of the shooting, when one of two suspects fired into it, injuring the older man in the right leg. The suspects are now described as two men in their mid-20's, while police on Saturday told us only that the gunman was a black male.

It seems as though the gunman was targeting the younger of the two men in the store, but mistakenly hit the 52-year-old. The Examiner quotes an SFPD source as saying, "Based on the statements, it’s possible the victim was not the intended target."

According to the news report, the younger victim left the store before officers arrived, and as of yesterday had not talked to police. The suspects are still at large.

If there are any additional developments, we'll update accordingly. In the meantime, if you have any information about the case, call the SFPD's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
