A 52-year-old man was taken to the hospital tonight after being shot near the intersection of Grove and Octavia.

SFPD tells us that the shooting occurred around 6:12pm. The victim and another person were standing on the 500 block of Grove Street when they were approached by the suspect, who walked up to the victim and shot him in the leg. The suspect, described by SFPD only as a black male, then fled the scene. He remains at large at this time. The victim was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He is described only as a 52-year-old male of undetermined ethnicity. One Hayes Valley resident believes the victim may have been Grove Street Market owner Sam Abdelman. Police could not confirm this to us, however. We will update with any additional details.
