Holiday Happenings Around Hayes Valley
Of course there are plenty of sales in Hayes Valley this week in the run-up to Christmas -- but there are also a few more unique events and offerings that we thought you should know about.

Azalea (411 Hayes, pictured above) is hosting a toy drive in coordination with the SF Firefighters Toy Program. Bring in a new or gently used toy and get 20% off any full-priced item, now through Christmas Eve. Biergarten (424 Octavia) is now serving the seasonal treat known as Glühwein - or hot mulled wine for the unfamiliar. The Biergarten is open from 2pm to 8pm Wednesday to Saturday, and 1pm to 7pm on Sundays. Hayes Valley Bakeworks (550 Gough) has a number of potential stocking stuffers for sale, including gingerbread, spiced nuts, and caramel popcorn. They'll be closed Monday and Tuesday, but open 8am to 5pm this weekend. Smitten Ice Cream (432 Octavia) has a special flavor for the season -- Sticky Toffee Pudding. They'll be churning it out until 5pm on Christmas Eve, and then will close for the holiday. And speaking of holiday flavors, a number of hot Hayes Valley beverages made Eater's list of Must-Try New Winter Cocktails. Rich Table (199 Gough) has a Carthusian Hot Chocolate "spiked with creme de menthe and chartreuse, then served with melty pineapple marshmallows." Jardiniere (300 Grove) is serving a Tequila Hot Chocolate with Churros and dulce de leche on the side for dipping. And Absinthe (398 Hayes) has a "hot Spanish Coffee... served aflame with 151-proof rum, ground cinnamon, hot coffee, Kahlúa, brandy, and whipped cream." Know of any other seasonal specials in the neighborhood? Let us know, and we'll update accordingly.
