New Mural, Jazz Nights Liven Up Two Jack's
There's a lot going on both inside and outside Two Jack's this week.

First, the restaurant at 401 Haight got a new mural, courtesy of local artists Kate Deciccio and Ronnie Goodman. You may recognize Kate as the artist behind the mural at Haight and Pierce, while Ronnie is a muralist raised in the Fillmore. Two Jack's owner Nikki Cooper tells us that the mural is based on a quilt, "the last quilt my grandmother Bessie made me before she passed away in 1995... The inspiration for the project really came from my desire to continue to grow and evolve yet to remain stedfast in my love and appreciation for my roots." Also new at Two Jack's: "The Jazz Life," a bi-monthly jazz series, starting tonight. It's a spinoff of "Jazz in the Basement," a monthly showcase performed in the Lower Haight. Each edition of The Jazz Life will feature a four-piece house band (Jesse Foster, John McArdle, Grant Levin, and Mark Lee), plus guest artists. Tonight's guests are vocalists Darryl Rowe and Pam Brandon, Dave Bendigkeit on trumpet, and Todd Dickow on sax. Two Jack's will be serving wine, beer and food during tonight's performance, which runs from 7pm to 9:30pm. And if you miss The Jazz Life tonight, don't worry -- this will be a regular event every other Thursday night from here onward.
