In the months following C. C. Yin's acquisition of the McDonald's at Haight and Stanyan, we've heard complaints of a health violation.

Local property owner Katherine Roberts, who holds rental properties on Beulah, near and behind the McDonald's parking lot, has noted a rat problem in the recent past. After investing in exterminators and still having a problem, she called city health officials to lodge a complaint. "Sure enough," she said in an email, "I got a call back today from one if the inspectors saying that all the garbage bins at the McDonald's in Haight & Stanyan have been left open in violation of city ordinance. And any time I've walked past there at night I've definitely seen rats eating all the leftover Big Macs." We put a call out to C. C. Yin, the new property owner who plans to expand the McDonald's with a drive-thru. At the time of this writing we haven't heard back. What's your experience with rats in the 'hood? Ms. Roberts is looking for advice in dealing with the problem (not poison), and support in addressing the public health violations at the McDonald's.
