A liquor license application filed yesterday reveals that the 500 block of Haight Street could soon be getting a new Asian restaurant.
The beer and wine application is for something called "Rajin Restaurant" at 531 Haight Street. That's currently home to Al-Fanoose, which replaced Ali Baba's Cave two years ago. The Rajin application lists a woman named Siu Li Tang as its officer. Tang is connected to a Chinese restaurant called Fortune Star in San Mateo, and a sushi place called Kaigan in San Carlos. So, we're not 100% sure what type of cuisine Rajin might end up serving, though the word "Rajin" means "industrious" in Indonesian and Malay. It's also the name of a port city in North Korea, for what it's worth. Needless to say, we'll keep an eye on this one.
