The owners of the tucked away sushi restaurant on 16th and Sanchez, Daimaru Sushi, have recently changed the format from sushi and Japanese cuisine to Chinese cuisine and rebranded as Makli Chinese Cuisine (290 Sanchez Street). The reviews on Yelp for the old sushi spot garnered them a 3.5 out of 5 stars with many people citing exceptionally friendly service and a quiet atmosphere, but only so-so sushi. The owner of the restaurant told us he is going back to his roots as a Chinese restauranteur and switching up the menu completely including giving the place a light face-lift.
The new format is ready and open for business. Check out their menu and consider grabbing some food to go or stopping by for their friendly service and a bite to eat.
