PHOTOS: Trans March Pulls Out All the Stops Celebrating It's 10th Anniversary
Published on June 29, 2013
The San Francisco Trans March turned it out for their 10th anniversary on Friday night putting the 'T' in front of the parade where it belongs with an inclusive celebration of all things Queer and beautiful.
The most eclectic gathering of individuals amassed in Dolores Park on a unseasonably hot Summer day with temperatures reaching into the 80's. Entertainment, a founder's brunch, speakers and camaraderie as Trans folks and their allies gathered to meet, greet and be counted. Included were reps from the Bradley Manning Support Network. The controversy surrounding Manning's inclusion in the SF LGBT Pride Parade wasn't present at the Trans March whose members voted overwhelmingly to publicly endorse Manning in their event.
Mama of the March, Felicia Flame, who led the fight for equality at the infamous pre-Stonewall riot at San Francisco's Compton Cafeteria in the Tenderloin in 1966 summed it up beautifully, "We're outsiders who started the road to the inside-we threw the first punch and we did it in heels. We shouldn't go back-only forward!"
Amen Ms. Flame.
