New in the Neighborhood: Sweet Basil
Just eight months after Chilli Cha Cha turned into Terrific Thai, the restaurant at 494 Haight has undergone yet another transformation: to Sweet Basil.

Sweet Basil already has two locations -- one in Foster City, and one on Mission down near Bernal Heights. Both get solid marks on Yelp, for whatever that's worth, and so far the new location has nothing but 5-star reviews. The menu is essentially identical to Terrific Thai's, with one main exception -- the prices are noticeably lower. An order of 4 spring rolls will run you $6.95 at Sweet Basil versus $8.25 at Terrific Thai. Pumpkin curry is $9.99 versus $12.50. Pineapple fried rice drops a dollar from $10.50 to $9.50. And so on. Also, the "Terrific Sea" chef's special is now called the "Foster City Sea". We haven't had a chance to dine at Sweet Basil yet, but if you have, do let us know what you think -- especially if you were a regular Terrific Thai patron.
