Waiting For Monsieur BenjaminRendering by David Baker + Partners
Word has it that a new restaurant is being planned for Gough Street, but so far details are scant. Here's what we know.

The Chronicle's Inside Scoop blog reported on Friday that Corey Lee, the chef-owner of Benu, had filed for an alcohol license for 451 Gough, between Hayes and Grove. That address doesn't actually exist yet -- it's on the site of the new 300 Ivy development that's slated to open this fall. (See the rendering above.) Inside Scoop says that Lee isn't ready to divulge details of the new venture, as the deal is in escrow and thus not finalized. A rep for Benu confirmed to us yesterday that they have nothing to announce yet. One detail we can glean though is a possible name. The alcohol license application lists that the restaurant would be doing business as "Monsieur Benjamin." Lee has also applied for a trademark for the name. Whether that will be the restaurant's final name, and what it might indicate in terms of a possible French influence, remains to be seen. When we know more, rest assured we'll let you know.
