Help the Panhandle's McKinley Statueflickr/Carbon NYC
This evening, a meeting to consider ways to keep the Panhandle McKinley statue looking tip-top.

At 6 PM, in front of the statue (at the Baker end of the park), the San Francisco Arts Commission will discuss proposed measures to protect the statue from wear and defacement, which, according to the commission, has cost the city "tens of thousands of dollars" over the years. The commission will be talking with community members about possible conservation measure, including potentially installing a fence around the statue. The statue, over a century old, was installed to commemorate William McKinley upon his assassination in 1904. For questions, call SFAC at 415-252-4638.
