Plans for improving the Wiggle continue to take shape, with a new website detailing the specific proposals under consideration.

The SFMTA, SFPUC, and SFDPW have held two open houses in recent months to discuss traffic calming and greening measures along the route. The takeaways from those meetings are featured on the website, and include:
  • Rain Gardens -- replacing areas of sidewalk with plants and soil -- to capture stormwater before it enters the sewer system
  • Bulbouts -- extensions of the sidewalk at intersections to make crossing the street easier for pedestrians
  • Raised Crosswalks and Speed Reduction Bars to slow traffic
  • A Traffic Circle at Page and Scott to reduce conflicts between cars, bikes, and pedestrians
  • Potentially making one block of Scott Street one-way
You can rate the various options and leave feedback on the website, or view the full presentation from the most recent open house here. Final decisions on the project elements should be made later this winter.
