Supervisor London Breed secured $5,000 in funds to install dog waste bag dispensers along Haight Street to help alleviate the Haight's famous sidewalk problem. The proposal as it sits now is to install five or six bag dispensers along upper Haight (SFDPW's estimate for how far $5K will get you), and for the city to cover labor to keep the dispensers graffiti-free. It also includes bag refills for the first year, with SFDPW-monitored budget tracking to determine the long-term expense (at 6.4 cents per bag) of keeping the bag dispensers stocked. The proposed locations of dispensers would be as follows: - Stanyan and Haight, northeast - Shrader and Haight, southeast - Cole and Haight, northwest - Clayton and Haight, southeast - Ashbury and Haight, northwest - Masonic and Haight, southwest If you have feelings, suggestions or recommendations, you can contact SFDPW community liaison Jerad Weiner, at jerad.weiner@sfdpw.
