Something blew up around Haight & Belvedere last night at about midnight.
According to the SF Reddit thread, it happened just after 12am. About two minutes after the explosion, SFPD was telling people it was an M80. If you were wondering whether an M80 would be loud enough to shake buildings and set off car alarms, the answer is yes. The SFPD sticking to the M80 story this morning, although twitter seems skeptical. We looked around the intersection (which, judging from pictures, seemed to be closer to Haight & Belvedere than Haight & Cole) and there wasn't any detritus this morning, which does support the lone firework story. In other fire-related news, there was a man running through Kezar Stadium with his pants on fire at 2pm last Friday the 24th. He sustained non-life threatening injuries, and the SFFD located gas cans a few blocks away. So, that happened.
