New Residential Permitted Parking Zone in the WorksGoogle Maps
It seems as though the city is responding to a call from residents last year to increase permitted residential street parking in the area from Alamo Square to the Upper Haight.

The areas being studied (full map shown above) in the Haight include Page and Oak from Baker to Masonic and Masonic from Page to Oak. In other words, just a little bit of the full area currently being reviewed for possible residential permitting. Tom Folks, representative of the SFMTA, said in an email response to a recent query that the project was "still very much in the planning stages," and that the city is currently compiling and reviewing parking statistics for the area under study, to see if any streets might qualify for permitted residential parking. The next step, Folks said, would be to send a letter to residents who initiated the request, and a follow-up meeting with all area residents to determine possible support or objections. While the area under review directly affects only a small slice of the Upper Haight, parking in the area is bound to be a contested issue in the coming months and years as the city implements the Masonic corridor improvement plan, which will eliminate a substantial volume of the area's street parking.
