Noir Files For Brewpub License
Noir, the wine and beer bar at 581 Hayes, has filed for a license to brew its own beer on-site.

The lounge has been described as a "wine bar and brewpub" since its launch last April, but has been operating with only a license to sell (not make) beer and wine. This week, it seeked to rectify that by applying for a full brewpub license. According to the state's Alcohol Beverage Control department, that license:
"Authorizes the sale of beer, wine and distilled spirits for consumption on a bona fide eating place plus a limited amount of brewing of beer. Also authorizes the sale of beer and wine only for consumption off the premises where sold. Minors are allowed on the premises."
So, Noir would have the right to serve liquor as well, should the license be issued. We'll let you know if and when we get more details on Noir's plans. Update: Owner Brian Cassanego confirms the news to us this morning, writing: "We do intend to brew beer on site as well as add classic cocktails to the menu without losing any of our wines." Brian says they're just at the very beginning of the process. We'll keep you posted.
