Public Hearing About Oversize Vehicle ParkingFlickr/johnrobertshepherd
We've got another installment in the ongoing neighborhood discussion of oversize vehicles for you.

Remember the 3-month evaulation of overnight parking for oversize vehicles? The SFMTA has analyzed the results and come up with a further list of locations for the oversize vehicle overnight parking restriction. According to the press release, the locations "are based on requests and recommendations from community members, district Supervisors, SFMTA engineering and enforcement staff, and SF Police Department officers." You'll be happy to hear that the stretches of Fell and Oak that surround the panhandle are among the new proposed streets. Generally the findings of their evaluation were that during the three month trial, the streets with posted restrictions had "greatly reduced numbers of oversize vehicles parked overnight; in most pilot locations oversize vehicle parking has been nearly eliminated." Their concerns were about people who lived in their cars, and (somewhat predictably) that oversize vehicles would just move to new streets. There will be a public hearing about the new streets tomorrow, and here are the details: SFMTA Engineering Public Hearing January 31, 10:00 AM (with another on February 14, also at 10:00 AM) City Hall, Room 416 You can also submit written comments: sustainable[dot]streets[at]sfmta[dot]com or by mail to: Engineering Public Hearing Sustainable Streets Division One South Van Ness Avenue, 7th Floor San Francisco, CA 94103-5417 Submitted opinions will become part of the official public record and will be brought to the attention of the presiding hearing officer.
