Javalencia Opens Third Location in Hayes Valley
After two years of dealing with construction and permit issues, Javalencia's third location (1594 Market) is now open for business in Hayes Valley.

Situated at the intersection of Market, Page, and Franklin, this Mission-based coffee shop is sandwiched between The Pastry Cupboard and Market Street Cycles. Although it looks like the place popped out of nowhere, it’s actually been in the works for a while. Diego Rey, one of the shop's managers, told us permits and construction in the kitchen had held them back from opening, but they're excited to now have their doors open for service. "We're doing our soft opening right now and looking to have a grand opening next month," said Yael Ramos, another one of the shop’s managers. With ten years of experience and two other locations in the Mission and Bayview, this shop will begin with a menu of coffee, bagels and pastries.
Yael also explained to us they want to feature local Bay Area coffee, so they’ll be using Sunrise Coffee which comes from San Leandro. We were also told everyone should try the iced coffee, which is one of their specialities: it's cold brewed for 24 hours, double filtered, and mixed with some secret spices. If coffee isn’t your thing and you like your morning pick-me-up on the sweeter side, they make their own chocolate ganache which is used as the base of their hot chocolate. They're currently working on obtaining a beer/wine license and hope to introduce a menu of tapas for the evenings and allow people to use the space for events on the weekends. "We like this neighborhood because there's a lot going on right now, especially with the new condos opening across the street and all foot traffic."
Javalencia is currently open Monday thru Friday between 7am and 3pm. Stop by and let us know what you think!
