Local Resident Leads Haight Tour
We checked in with 30-year Haight resident Chip Isaac to find out more about his monthly walking tour of the Haight.

The tours are sponsored by City Guides, a nonprofit organization with more than 200 trained volunteers who lead FREE history and architectural walking tours in San Francisco. City Guides, in turn is sponsored by the Public Library, which is why the walks are free (though donations are graciously accepted). It happens every Sunday, starting at 1pm at the Park Branch Library. This Sunday's will be led by Chip, and it'll cover the beginnings of the neighborhood, the Victorian architecture, how a freeway almost was built through the Panhandle, and of course, the obligatory stuff about the Hippies and the Summer of Love. It lasts about 2 hours, and sounds like it's medium-strenuous. So, get out there, get some exercise, support a long-time local, and learn about your neighborhood.
