Your Congresswoman did a little shopping on Haight Street last Friday.

Nancy Pelosi stopped by Booksmith to buy some kids books and a stuffed animal last Friday the 28th.

She had with her an assistant and a bodyguard, and a few black SUVs waiting out front to whisk her away to places unknown.

The staff person who helped her said she was "polite and engaged, but also commanding." Seems about right.

They didn't take any photos, because they didn't want to interrupt her errand-running. But the Congresswoman did chat briefly with Booksmith's owner Christin Evans to compliment the store.

While we're talking about celebrities in the 'hood, we heard that noted third-waver Naomi Wolf is staying in the neighborhood this week. According to her Twitter, she spoke yesterday at a conference on Orgasmic Meditation with the dude who wrote The Game, because of course she did.

Did you happen to glimpse Nancy or Naomi around the neighborhood? If so, do tell.
