There was a stabbing at Buena Vista Park on Friday night. Or maybe we should say: Yet another crime at Buena Vista Park last Friday night.

This time, a man was exiting the park to Buena Vista Avenue West, and was stabbed by another man with a fixed-blade knife. The victim is 30; the suspect is believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, and he was taken to SF General. The suspect was not found as of Monday morning, according to ABC

Despite a petition and a protest in February of this year, there seems to be less energy to curb the issues at Buena Vista than that which has been directed at the other end of the street. Alvord Lake has seen a clean-up campaign and new bike rental stations aimed at reducing crime and graffiti in the park. Opinions in the comments around here have been mixed on the effectiveness of those campaigns.

Of course, Alvord Lake is in the heart of Haight Street's retail district, and across from the corner where tour buses drop off tourists. Crime and graffiti at Alvord may just be more visible to more people.

We're curious to see if the petition and the protest over at BV have helped shift the focus on crime prevention towards other areas of the park.
