It was a wet and wild start to the workday on Waller Street, as a broken water main sent a mini-flood on a 2-block journey of terror.

Upon waking, we immediately sent our Haighteration helicopter to the scene. No, that would be ridiculous. We did put some pants on and head over to check it out, though.
The culprit was a water main right here, on the north side of Waller between Scott and Divisadero:
By around 6am, the gusher had been de-gushed, and all that remained was a wake of mud and debris stretching down Waller to Scott, down Scott to Haight, and pooling right around the New Santa Clara Market:
One resident we spoke with at the scene told us she slept through the whole thing, but was awoken by some helicopters overhead. "Those must have been for something else though," she said completely reasonably but also incorrectly.
Waller Street residents can expect their water service to be disrupted for a while, according to the SF Public Utilities Commission:
