A pedestrian was struck at Octavia and Haight at approximately 4pm this afternoon.

The San Francisco Police tweeted this out at 4:30pm, letting everyone know about the heavy traffic (and helicopters) in the area:
ABC7 News first reported the person was struck and thrown into oncoming traffic:The original report said that a pedestrian was struck and the driver initially remained at the scene. According to early 911 calls, the pedestrian was thrown into the street and the suspect might have fled the area in a white vehicle.

The most recent update is a correction to the SFPD's first tweet, stating that the person wasn't thrown into the street:
As soon as more information comes in, we'll update you on what's going on.

An earlier version of this post misstated that the incident occurred at Hayes and Octavia. It happened at Haight and Octavia.
