Looking for a delicious way to celebrate the history of Hayes Valley? We've got the event for you.
Tomorrow (Saturday May 10th), Biergarten and Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association are co-sponsoring the 4th annual Fire Brunch. This two-part event includes a historic tour of Hayes Valley along with with ham, eggs, and beer.

The tour begins at the Biergarten (424 Octavia) at 9:30am and will be led by HVNA board member Larry Cronander. This year's theme is "Architectural Treasures of Hayes Valley: Surviving the Great Earthquake and Ham and Eggs Fire of 1906." This is one of the HVNA's fundraisers, so while there is no set cost, they suggest a donation of $15 for this 2.5 hour walking tour through the neighborhood.

After the tour, the Ham & Eggs Fire Brunch takes place  from 12-3pm at the Biergarten. Along with food and beer, there will be information provided by the Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT), an SF Fire Department police truck, and some live music. A $10 donation is encouraged.

Although they're connected by a common theme, these are two separate events. You can attend the tour, the brunch, or both.

For those wondering why this event is called a "Fire Brunch", the Biergarten explains it all:

As the story goes the great fire that engulfed San Francisco just after the 1906 earthquake began by accident in Hayes Valley – the result of preparing a Breakfast of ham and eggs over a cook-stove with a damaged chimney. In honor of this unique history our Valley takes time in May to come together to build a stronger neighborhood and eat brunch.
See you there for kegs & eggs.
