4x5 Gallery Will Shutter Next MonthPhoto: Facebook / 4x5 Gallery
Yet another business will be closing up shop soon in the Lower Haight.

4x5 Gallery, which has been hosting exhibits and selling photographs at 442 Haight Street since mid-2012, will be ending its run at the end of June.

Co-owner Gordon Szeto tells us that the gallery's 2-year lease was coming up for renewal, and after reviewing the business they decided to shut 4x5 down.

"A gallery is a tough business and we knew that going in," Szeto says. "It was just tougher than we expected."

442 Haight Street is also home to Glass Key Photo, the film supply shop run by Matt Osborne. Glass Key will be staying put, albeit with some changes to the shop after 4x5 leaves. Details are still being worked out.

4x5's last public show, a collection of photographs by several of the gallery's regular artists, went up on Wednesday.  There will be one final show, Szeto says, but it will be private.

Meanwhile, the gallery's collection of photographs will remain available for sale for the next month or so.  So if you're in the market for some quality locally-sourced art, just be sure to swing by 442 Haight before the end of June.
