There have been a few significant crimes in and around Hayes Valley in recent days, including multiple shootings and robberies. Here are the incidents that caught our attention this week.
A shooting occurred at the intersection of Grove and Webster on Friday night at 10pm, and police tell us that one person was injured, though fortunately not fatally.
"Upon their arrival officers located an adult shooting victim," a police department spokesperson tells us. "He was transported to SFGH in non-life threatening condition." The suspects are still at large.
No other details are available at this time, but we’ll update with more as we get it.
Around 3pm the day before, shots were fired near McAllister and Van Ness in a presumably unrelated incident.
Officers are looking for a gold-colored Toyota Camry after it attempted a drive-by on a group of people, according to Bay City News (via SFist). Police detained a man who said he had been the target.
“Officers stated the suspect was speaking to a woman when the shots were fired,” the San Francisco Examiner reports. “Believing he had been set up, he reportedly chased her and tried to hit her.”
In less scary crime news, singer Sean Ono Lennon’s band's van (pictured above) was broken into while parked near Franklin and Hayes on Wednesday. Percussionist Connor Grant's laptop was stolen from the vehicle while the poor guy was getting coffee.
Lennon writes on his Instagram account: “BIG REWARD if computer is returned unharmed! NO QUESTIONS ASKED! If anyone knows anything pleeeeease contact us at [email protected]”

Looking over the crime information we have from recent weeks, we’ll also note that two women were mugged around 10:30pm Thursday night at Linden and Laguna. They were walking down the street when a man with a gun confronted them and demanded their belongings. They complied, and the man ordered them to turn away as he fled with their items.
Also, around midnight on May 10th, a woman was hit by a car after drinking and passing out on Hayes Street between Steiner and Fillmore. She suffered a non-life threatening head wound. The driver, who had not seen her, stayed on the scene.
If you want to take a closer look at other recent crime reports, the police department makes basic information available via the site Crimemapping.com. In the meantime, if we get any more information about the above cases, we'll update this story accordingly.
